Storage of the LPG Cylinder in a Purivox Device
Purivox airport bird control gas cannons use liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to generate the loud bangs that effectively deter birds. LPG is chosen not only for its performance but also for its high safety standards.
Each Purivox bird control unit comes equipped with an LPG gas cylinder. The standard size used is 11 kg, which is capable of producing up to 20,000 shots before needing a refill or replacement—typically just once a year under normal usage.
Purivox CA-RC System
- Cylinder stored in a standing position
- Secured with two safety straps
- Cylinder stored in a lying position
- Secured with two safety straps
- Requires a cylinder that supports horizontal operation, or a standard cylinder reduced to at least 75% capacity
- Cylinder stored in a lying position
- Secured with two safety straps
- Also requires horizontal-compatible LPG cylinders or reduced-volume standard cylinders
- Cylinder stored in a lying position
- Secured with two safety straps
- Also requires horizontal-compatible LPG cylinders or reduced-volume standard cylinders
The Purivox DA-RC System, Purivox TA-RC System and Purivox VA-RC System require LPG gas cylinders that are approved for use in a horizontal (lying) position. Alternatively, a standard upright LPG cylinder can be used if its gas volume is reduced to at least 75%, ensuring safe operation in a lying position.

Each Purivox system is delivered with a specialized gas pressure regulator designed specifically for bird deterrent devices. These regulators are available with one of the following connector types:
