Where are the units manufactured?

Purivox GmbH is a German based company found over 60 years ago. All the devices are manufactured in our own facility located in Ottersheim / Germany!

How many units are needed for an airport?

To determine the optimal number of units for your airport, we first consult with your bird control team. We collect information such as the types of birds present, their numbers, and their locations on the airfield. Based on this data, we create a customized bird control gas cannon placement plan to ensure maximum effectiveness.

How do I control the gas cannons?

Our units can be remotely controlled within a range of up to 8 km (5 miles line of sight) using the Purivox TX-H3 remote controller. A single remote controller can operate up to 80 Purivox devices simultaneously.

Do I need any special training to operate the devices?

No special training is required. Each unit comes with a user manual that includes all necessary safety instructions. The devices are easy to operate. However, the operator must wear ear protection while using them.

How long does a gas cylinder last, and how many shots can I get from one?

Each unit uses approximately 1 kg of propane gas for 1,800 shots. Therefore, an 11 kg gas cylinder provides around 20,000 shots.

How long do the batteries last?

Battery life depends on usage and environmental conditions. Under typical conditions (10–20 activations per day), batteries last between 2 to 6 months. This may vary with temperature and sunlight exposure.

All Purivox devices operate with a 12V 15Ah rechargeable battery.

How is the Purivox gas cannon connected to the gas cylinder, and what type of gas is required?

The gas cannon is connected to the gas cylinder using the Purivox gas regulator, which ensures the correct pressure for the electronic unit. We offer three types of gas regulator connectors. The devices operate with standard propane gas.

Is the propane gas cylinder included with the unit?

No, the gas cylinder is not included. However, it uses a standard 11 kg propane cylinder, which is widely available at hardware stores. One 11 kg cylinder provides approximately 20,000 shots.

Do birds and wild animals become habituated to the shots over time?

Habituation is highly unlikely due to the radio-controlled operation. The units are only activated when birds are present, ensuring they remain an effective deterrent and contribute to safe air traffic.

Should the gas cannons be relocated periodically?

Yes, we recommend relocating the cannons occasionally. They should be placed in areas most frequented by birds. The electronic system allows for various settings to increase effectiveness:

  • Grouping cannons to fire simultaneously
  • Adjustable sound levels (two-step)
  • Adjustable delay between shots (short or normal)
  • Blast mode options (simultaneous or sequential firing from each blast tube)
