Bird Control with the Purivox TA-RC System at Cork Airport / Ireland

Cork Airport Strengthens Wildlife Management with Purivox TA-RC System

Cork Airport in Ireland has significantly enhanced its wildlife management efforts through the successful implementation of the Purivox TA-RC radio remote-controlled gas cannon system. Since the introduction of the first unit in August 2021, the system has proven to be a highly effective tool in managing several bird species that pose a risk to airfield operations.

The TA-RC System has been seamlessly integrated into Cork Airport’s wildlife management procedures, providing an additional and reliable control measure for dispersing birds across the airfield. Its remote-control functionality has improved the efficiency of the wildlife management team by reducing the need for prolonged runway access, thereby enhancing runway safety and operational readiness.

“Since the introduction of the first gas gun in August 2021, the system provides us with an additional and effective control measure that we have developed into our wildlife management procedures. The Purivox system improves the operational requirements around our runways for our wildlife management team and enhances runway safety by reducing runway occupancy.”

Due to the positive results, Cork Airport proceeded with the purchase of a second Purivox TA-RC System in August 2022, reinforcing the system’s role as a valuable asset in their ongoing bird control strategy.

The airport’s management considers the Purivox TA-RC System a critical and beneficial part of their wildlife management plan—contributing directly to safer and more efficient airfield operations.
