Bird control with the Purivox DA-RC System and CA-RC System at Charleroi Airport (CRL)

Charleroi Airport, located in Belgium, has introduced advanced bird control solutions to discourage birds from nesting in critical areas near its runway. The presence of several bird species has posed ongoing challenges, potentially endangering aircraft safety during takeoff and landing.

To mitigate this risk, the airport is using a mix of 6 Purivox CA-RC Systems and 3 Purivox DA-RC Systems, all spread strategically near the runway to ensure full coverage of the protection area. These systems work by emitting acoustic signals and controlled bangs that mimic natural bird threats, effectively deterring birds from settling or nesting in the vicinity.

Both systems are installed in protection zones near the runway, where the risk of bird activity is highest.

Charleroi Airport’s deployment of the Purivox systems reflects its commitment to maintaining a safe operating environment while respecting ecological balance. These measures contribute to minimizing bird strike incidents and ensuring smooth, uninterrupted flight operations.
